Going through divorce is a long and devastating process. Sometimes it takes months and for most it takes many years. Being a divorced single mom and still walking this road, I know how important it is to know that you are not alone in this journey. Even more so, being a pastors daughter and active leader in a church, I know it is hard to find your place in life, in your church, and with God when a divorce happens. What do you tell everyone? How much do you share? Will anyone really understand? Will life ever seem normal again?
Divorce is definitely not something to be proud of but if you have biblical grounds for the divorce, it is not something to be ashamed of. You don't have to hide your head and feel like you are a leper. In fact, this is the time you need as much support around you as you can get. Let those that you trust be there for you.
One thing you must realize. Divorce is not something that happens and then goes away. It is usually a lifetime process especially if children are involved. Accepting this will go a long way to bringing order and sanity to your life.
My prayer is as you read some of my experiences, you will find some small piece of advice that can help you or maybe just the knowledge that you are not alone in this horrible process. Since I am still living this process, I will be updating this site with more experiences, resources, and just little things that have encouraged me.
I am a proud survivor of divorce and my prayer is that someday you will say the same thing too!
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
